Ghisò , Timepieces and Baselworld 2010

Ghiso Pocketwatch in white gold and diamonds, 1935

Many of you probably do not know about the horological heritage of Ghisò. In the early 1900, Ghiso was a celebrated designer and his expertise would cover jewelry as well as watch making.
Several Ghiso watches have been auctioned by Christies and Sotheby’s during the last years.
In the purest deco tradition Ghiso timepieces were created in collaboration with some of the most celebrated houses, from Audemars to Jaeger Le Coultre.

As Baselworld is about to open its doors and unveil a series of incredible pieces, we will take you for a week of discoveries dedicated to the world of watches. Stay tuned…

Review of Pitti Uomo 2010

Ghiso at Pitti Uomo - Traveller bag

With just a few days to go before the fashion week of Milano, filled with fashion shows and catwalks, I wanted to take a few minutes to review the main trends and models that were launched at Pitti Uomo, a few weeks back in Firenze.
The Fall Winter Ghisò colletion (available in stores as of September 2010) has developed the Working Bags collection with the addition of several models that were a definite hit.
In addition to the Helmet Bag, we have presented a new version of our 48 hours, and its smaller version, the 24 hours. The Helmet bag has been also adapted to become also a PC carrier that can be also worn on your shoulders. All these models will be individually presented in the weeks to come.

Ghiso at Pitti Uomo 2010

As far as materials goes, our Fall Winter collection has focused on vegetal tanned leather, hand polished, that brings a very strong personality to all of our products. The leather is produced in one of the very few traditional tanneries of Tuscany, where leather is tanned without chemicals, following some of the most traditional manufacturing process. All colors are produced using natural colors. Finally, the collection was brightened by the usage of colorful tartan wool that brings that adds to the collection a very strong touch.
Next viewing occasion, probably in shops and streets near you!

Welcome from Gianluca Maina

Ghiso 023

This blog is dedicated to Ghisò and its world, made of passions, beautiful products, incredible craftsman’s, and based around the idea of Slow Luxury.
It gives me a great pleasure and satisfaction to write the first words of this Blog, born as the natural companion of the Ghisò website.

At Ghisò, we believe that luxury needs to be reevaluated to its genuine meaning. We also believe that luxurious products may need quite a bit of time to be manufactured, as there are few artisans able to craft specific products, and in particular that these products should last for a very long time. Through the pages of this blog, we would like to introduce you to our world, made of people that live for their passions, of craftsman’s that proudly perpetuate what they have learned from the elders, of products that if allowed, will tell stories that will deserve time to be listened and discovered, time that will become your own luxury.

I hope you will enjoy the time we will spend together, and look forward to your feedback and input, to  grow and develop this site.

Arrivederci!
