It’s Design Time in Milano – Ghisò and the week of design

As Milano is getting ready for the launch of its most important and celebrated event of the year, I would love to think and present Ghisò approach to design.
Since its creation, Ghisò has always used design to outline and enhance the natural beauty of materials that are used in our products.
In our boxes, hinges are hidden, thanks to a sophisticated construction model, to show beauty of wood veins and original colors. The shoe horn is so simply designed that it looks like naturally carved out from a massive piece of wood, form wind and weather, while in reality the design of our architects have drawn lines of exact proportions and dimensions.

Astonishing example of our interpretation of design, the Chess games positions itself immediately as the king of games. The box, acts as chessboard, its cover being assembled by hand from Makassar ebony and maple wood. Each pawn is handmade, from boxwood and black ebony. The design exquisitely retro, with a certain formality of the art deco style.

Ghiso Pocketwatch in white gold and diamonds, 1935

Many of you probably do not know about the horological heritage of Ghisò. In the early 1900, Ghiso was a celebrated designer and his expertise would cover jewelry as well as watch making.
Several Ghiso watches have been auctioned by Christies and Sotheby’s during the last years.
In the purest deco tradition Ghiso timepieces were created in collaboration with some of the most celebrated houses, from Audemars to Jaeger Le Coultre.

As Baselworld is about to open its doors and unveil a series of incredible pieces, we will take you for a week of discoveries dedicated to the world of watches. Stay tuned…

Caro Papà, oggi é la tua festa!!

Selection of cufflinks by Ghisò

Dear Dad, today is your day!!!… This is what several of you may say on the 18th of March as Italy and other countries in the world will celebrate Father day. Of course, we should think about our elder more than once a year, but nothing is better than to come home on this day, and offer a small gesture of love.

For a whole perspective on this celebration, please refer to this link.

For grown up kids willing to please their father (or themselves), Ghisò introduces a collection of fine cufflinks, symbol of understated elegance and definite style. Handmade in Black Ebony, Mammoth Ivory (will tell you more about this later…) and rhodium plated silver. A small gesture with great meaning…
